There are many reasons when a woman cannot carry a pregnancy to term (Previous Hysterectomy, Rokitansky syndrome, severe endometrial adhesions, multiple fibroid uterus, significant medical problems such as aortic stenosis etc. In these cases, a couple may choose to have another woman carry the pregnancy and deliver the baby on their behalf.
The process is allowed in Greece following an application to the courts (Altruistic Surrogacy). Based on the current legislation the baby is born under the name of the intended parents making Greece a very attractive destination for surrogacy.
